Neutron diffraction study of MnB₂

Abstract

It is found that the hexagonal intermetallic compound MnB₂ is antiferromagnetic. The magnetic moments are ferromagnetically coupled in the base plane and are perpendicular to the c-axis. The magnitude of the magnetic moments per manganese atom is 2.6μ_B.
