Abstract
Fe2P is reported to be ferromagnetic with an average magnetic moment of about 1.3 μB per iron atom. However, neutron diffraction measurements give two different values for the magnetic moments on both iron sites. This difference is significantly larger than those reported in the literature. The best fit with the neutron diffraction data is obtained for a magnetic moment of 0.69 μB on the tetragonal Fe [1] site and of 2.31 μB on the pyramidal Fe [2] site.
