OPERRA Deliverable D5.49: HARMONE Recommendations on the minimal sets of parameters necessary for human dose assessment for different regions and related monitoring strategies

    Research outputpeer-review

    Abstract

The development of guidelines on the monitoring strategies for assessing and/or following-up the consequences of a nuclear accident is proposed to be completed in 5 steps: i) define the minimum data sets with regard to emergency response for robust human dose and environmental assessment (SCK•CEN); ii) develop recommendations for the modellers on the parameters to be monitored for different regions and on potentially important features, events and processes (FEPs) (IRSN/SCK•CEN); iii) develop a monitoring strategy for a set of relevant scenarios developed in WP1 (SCK•CEN); iv) examine the applicability of the proposed monitoring strategies into current Decision Support Systems (DSS) (IRSN/ SCK•CEN) and v) harmonise the monitoring strategy and the modelling tools (IRSN/ SCK•CEN). The guidelines developed in this way will enhance the confidence in the human dose assessment, especially for the 1st year dose, and improve the monitoring strategy by coupling it to the modelling tools. The current document reports on the outcomes of the first two steps of the work package on monitoring strategies.
