Optical fiber sensors for nuclear environments

    Abstract

    We have experimentally studied the effect of ionizing radiation on the properties of LPFGs fabricated in a pure-silica fiber using the arc discharge technique. The goal of the study is to assess the possibility of using such gratings in radiation environments for sensing applications.
