    Abstract

This work studied the Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) response of carbon-doped aluminium oxide (Al2O3:C) powder dosimetric detectors to beta and gamma radiation. The OSL detectors were prepared in the form of flattened drops of about 2-3 mm in diameter by mixing the Al2O3:C powder with a photo-curable polymer that hardens when illuminated with strong UV light. The powder consists on Al2O3:C micro crystals with a maximum grain size of 38 m with high OSL sensitivity to ionizing radiation like beta particles, gamma rays and X-rays. The samples were prepared in small sizes in order to increase the spatial resolution of the detectors.
