The in vitro incorporation of tritiated thymidine into 50 μg of primer DNA is catalyzed by an extract of regenerating rat liver. A suspension of microsomes from normal rat liver powerfully inhibits this incorporation. The inhibition does not seem to be due to a dephosphorylation of the precursors nor to the hydrolysis of DNA by the DNAase of the microsomes.
