Abstract
Excess oxygen in MnO gives rise to the precipitation of Mn3O4 spinel. In a first stage presumably the cubic spinel is formed, which in a later stage is transformed into Mn3O4 (Hausmannite) twinned on the (110) plane of MnO. The orientation relationship between Mn3O4 (Hausmannite) and MnO is as follows:. (112)4 (110)MnO. (110)4 (110)MnO.
