    Abstract

    A projected Hartree-Fock calculation is carried out for the odd-parity states of 9Be. The Hamiltonian contains in addition to the two-body interaction of Brink also a one-body spin-orbit force, the strength of which is determined from the condition that the ground-state magnetic moment should be reproduced. Form factors for elastic and inelastic scattering of high-energy electrons are calculated. The satisfactory agreement with experiment suggests that the ground-state quadrupole moment should be between 5.5 and 6 fm2.
