Abstract
Since the introduction of electronics in nuclear environments more then 3 decades ago,
nowadays technologies present ever decreasing feature sizes, while their architectural
complexity rapidly evolves in order to meet the increasing number of challenging applications
in current and future nuclear facilities. This paper will present a selection of recent
applications involving the design and assessment of radiation tolerant fibre optic links and
their associated driving electronics for their application up to MGy dose levels in several
environments ranging from current nuclear power and reprocessing plants, high energy
physics detectors of CERN, to future fusion and Gen IV power plants.
