Report from a Delphi survey on the management of contaminated goods. FP7 project PREPARE

    Research outputpeer-review

    Abstract

In the aftermath of the nuclear accident in Fukushima, the management of contaminated goods (food and other goods) came forward as an important issue in the post-accidental emergency management. In the framework of the FP7 project PREPARE, stakeholder panels will be organised in ten European countries (Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, UK) in order to discuss strategies and guidance concerning the management of contaminated goods. The panels will bring together emergency management actors, producers, food processors, retail and consumers. An expert Delphi survey was carried out in the framework of the FP7 PREPARE project in view of preparing the Belgian stakeholder panel meeting. Logistic support (use of the dedicated Mesydel software) was provided by the SPIRAL research group of the University of Liège. The aim of the Delphi survey was to get a broad spectrum of different views and to identify some important issues related to the management of contaminated goods, which could be addressed in the stakeholder panel meetings.
