Abstract
Having established a mathematical formula representing the modified Gaussian curve of the photopeaks, we intend, by means of the method of least squares, to determine the parameter variations occurring in this formula as a function of gamma radiation in interaction with the NaI scintillator. The introduction of Hermite functions in the mathematical representation causes a fast convergence of the calculations due to the orthogonal properties of these functions. The calculations are done by iterations following the Newton-Raphson method.
