Abstract

This report describes the results of the experiments performed by SCK•CEN in the framework of WP4 Disturbed Host Rock formations – WP 4.1.3 Gas-driven radionuclide transport through closed fissures of EDZ and seal/host rock interface and WP5 Undisturbed host rock formations – WP5.1 gas transport laboratory experiments. The goal of this research was to answer the question: "To what extent can a gas pressure build-up enhance the transport of radionuclides, and what is the role of the disturbed host rock in the EDZ and the interfaces between the host rock and EBS".
