SILER International Workshop - Rome (Italy) - 18&19 June 2013

SILER is a Collaborative Project within the seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission, aimed at studying the risks associated to seismic initiated events in Gen IV Heavy Liquid Metal reactors and developing adequate protection measures. The attention is focused on the evaluation of the effects of earthquakes and to the identification of mitigation strategies like seismic isolation. The present thematic workshop is open to the experience of correlated research areas. Invited lectures on specific topics strictly related with seismic protection of LFR and ADS systems, will alternate with presentations on several topics of general interest. The workshop is open to all experts in seismic isolation in order to exchange experience. A book of abstracts will be distributed during the workshop; powerpoint presentations will be made available on the SILER website after the workshop. The organising committee foresees also to review the submitted papers and to publish them, after review, in an international journal in the field. Five main topics have been identified: Modelling of systems & isolators for dynamic analyses; Development, fabrication & testing of isolation systems; Sloshing in seismic isolated reactors; Design guideline & economics for seismic isolated systems; Interconnection systems for seismic isolated systems.
