Special Theme Issue on Spallation Materials Technology. Selected papers from the Eleventh International Workshop on Spallation Materials Technology (IWSMT-11)

Recently, the Journal of Nuclear Materials has decided to reduce the number of special editions but still allowed us to publish a theme issue dedicated to Spallation Materials Technology, applying the same high standard requirements to papers as is the case for full length articles. Out of approximately one hundred scientific contributions at the workshop, a total of 42 scientific papers were recommended for publication in this theme issue of Journal of Nuclear Materials on Spallation Materials Technology. As chair of the IWSMT-11 local organizing committee and guest editor of this volume, I hereby want to express my sincere gratitude to all those who helped realize the successful workshop or contributed towards publishing this Special Edition in Journal of Nuclear Materials.
