Abstract
Cell differentiation but not cell elongation is strongly influenced by X-irradiation at exposures of 50 and 100 krad. Banding patterns on sucrose step gradients, measurement of starch and light microscopical inspection of chloroplasts indicate an accumulation of the storage material in irradiated cells. The percentage of chloroplasts with DNA (50%) is not influenced by irradiation.
