    Abstract

The EC-FP7 ARCAS project aims to compare different options to transmute minor actinides in nuclear spent fuel: either by Fast Reactors (typically Sodium Fast Reactors) and by Accelerator Driven Systems. WP1 estimates the required burning capacity for a representative selection of European countries based on the FP6 PATEROS project. WP2 and WP3 describe respectively the FR and ADS under consideration. WP4 focuses on the fuel reprocessing and fabrication facilities needed. WP5 compares available cost information.
