    Abstract

When quenched to room temperature from the high temperature ordered CsCl phase, the intermetallic compound NiMn transforms into a finely twinned face centered tetragonal structure. The twin lamella are so regular in thickness that a superlattice results similar to the long period close packed structure due to periodic stacking faults. The superlattice spacing corresponds to the repeat distance of the twinned structure.
