    Abstract

Experiments to study the role of the soil organic matter in the transfer of radioactivity are described. Results shown that organic matter can temporarily retain part of a recent deposition in the soil. The magnitude of the effect will depend on the presence and the ratio of organic matter and clay fractions in the soil.
