Thermal neutron activation cross section of 116cd for the production of the 117cd isomers

    Abstract

    An isomeric cross section ratio σm/σg = 0.54 ± 0.10 for the formation of 3.4 h 117mCd and 2.4 h 117gCd by the 116Cd (nth, y) reaction was measured by milking of the 1.92 h 117mIn and 39 min 117gln daughters. An activation cross section of 50 ± 8 mb was obtained for the ll6Cd (nth, y) 117gCd reaction.
