Abstract
The regulator of platelet count is believed to be thrombopoéetin (mpl ligand). It is thought to act on the megakaryocytic lineage affecting the proliferation of committed cells, the maturation of megakaryocytes and the blood platelet levels by activation of its receptor (the c-mpl). Recently, it has been purified and sequenced. Thrombopoéetin offers potential applications for treatment of thrombocytopenia.
