Topical Day | Ionising radiation: how do bacteria cope and what can we learn?

    Research outputpeer-review

    Abstract

The aim of this Topical Day is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for exchanging ideas and discussing recent results related to extreme radio resistance in bacteria to experienced and young scientists working in this area. Special attention will be given to the genetic and cellular mechanisms underlying this resistance and the potential of such bacteria, or their cell products, for applications in environmental biotechnology, radiation protection, space microbiology and medical sciences.
