    Abstract

In this report we describe the current transport model for the Neogene aquifer, based on the recent update of the category A Local model (Gedeon et al., 2011). Firstly, the necessary adjustments to the recently updated category A Local model are described. These adjustments include changing of the grid orientation to match the prevailing groundwater flow direction, changes to the vertical discretization and introducing a separate Voort unit. Next, an overview of the transport model parameterization is given. This includes a review of hydraulic conductivity measurements in the Neogene aquifer with a focus on the deeper units (Diest, Dessel, Berchem and Voort), an overview of the parameters used in previous versions of groundwater flow models and finally the parameters used in the current version. Finally, the section results discuss the outcomes of the transport model based on uncertainty analysis using a Monte Carlo method.
