True dose rate enhancement effect in phosphorous doped fibre optic radiation sensors

    Research outputpeer-review

    Abstract

The gamma dose-rate effect in phosphorous doped fiber optic radiation sensors was analyzed. The light from the White Light Source (WLS) was injected into a multimode optical switch where it was routed into the channel selected by the user or the data acquisition system. It was observed that the radiation-sensitivity increased with an increase in the dose-rate. It was also observed that the radiation-sensitivity restricted the applicability of the optical fiber in the region where the radiation response remained unaffected by the dose rate variation.
