Abstract
To evaluate the influence of oxygen contamination on the irradiation behaviour of carbides, two series of pellets of high and low (4000 and 400 ppm) oxygen content were made in a UC fabrication line. In the 18 pellets of each series, the amounts of sesquicarbides, and of vanadium or chromium, used as a stabilising agent, were studied as variable; high and low densities were produced. For each composition, the method adapted to reach the very rigid specifications of composition and density is described.
