    Abstract

A POTDR setup interrogating a low-birefringence fiber is proposed for the measurement of plasma current in the Tore Supra fusion reactor. The basic principle is based on the Faraday effect that takes place in the low-birefringence fiber surrounding the vacuum vessel. Plasma currents going from 0.6 to 1.5 MA have been measured..Use of a Polarization OTDR for the Measurement of Plasma Current in the Tore Supra Thermonuclear Fusion Reactor.
