    Abstract

A series of numerically calculated fringe profiles shows that images of zig‐zag fringes superposed on wavy fringe patterns in BaTiO3 result from three superposed ferro‐electric domain walls. The two outer walls being 90° boundaries, while the central interface is a 180° boundary which, in order to decrease the electrostatic energy, “meanders” between the two 90° walls.
